Job Description
Generative AI models have proven to be capable of generating high-quality images, videos, text and many other data modalities. At Bosch, we want to push the envelope and create models that can generate 3D data such as CAD models or meshes for simulation. As an expert for 3D generation, you will play a crucial role in the conception, development, and implementation of innovative algorithms and pipelines for creating highly realistic and complex 3D content.
- As part of our team, you will drive innovation in 3D generation by actively researching, developing, and optimizing novel algorithms and architectures, particularly using diffusion and other generative models. This includes conceiving and implementing proof-of-concepts and prototypes, and training/fine-tuning complex 3D CAD models for various applications using Bosch-internal data.
- Your focus will be on researching and applying cutting-edge generative models, especially diffusion models and related techniques.
- You will ensure the quality and effectiveness of generated 3D content by developing and applying suitable metrics and benchmarks for objective evaluation, while continuously monitoring and evaluating new research trends and technologies in 3D generation and generative AI.
- Furthermore, you will foster collaboration by actively participating in internal and external technical discussions, presenting your research findings, and working closely with domain experts, product developers, and engineers to translate your research into practical applications.
- You will write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, developing best practices and sharing them with the team to support both research initiatives and the transfer of technology to practical applications.
- You will be responsible for Bosch's proprietary data, fine-tuning and adapting generic models. This includes understanding data requirements through discussions with development partners, and designing/implementing robust data ingestion pipelines for model training and inference.
- Last but not least, you will leverage your entrepreneurial mindset to evaluate, develop, and pitch new ideas that can drive innovation within the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: completed Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, ideally supplemented by a PhD in Machine Learning
- Experience and Knowledge:
- expertise in the theory and application of generative models, especially diffusion models
- knowledge of state-of-the-art generative models such as GANs, VAEs, and autoregressive models, as well as 3D perception and generation models
- demonstrated proficiency in scalable machine learning architectures and distributed training (multi-GPU/multi-node training), profound experience with relevant machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- several years of experience in AI-related projects with data from industrial domains (sensors, physical systems, IoT devices, simulations); familiarity with key modern tools in generative AI; proven research track record in generative AI, evidenced by publications in leading conferences or journals
- good knowledge of modern software engineering standards and tools, excellent programming skills in Python
- familiarity with computer graphics libraries and tools (e.g., OpenGL, Vulkan, Three.js, Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine) is an advantage
- Personality and Working Practice: you drive new applications forward with great commitment and achieve measurable results that create real added value for Bosch
- Languages: very good English skills written and spoken, German is a plus
