Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our FIFO team supporting customers across the Pilbara, based out of Port Hedland.
Working a 12/9 roster, you will deliver field based service, fault finding, installation, and maintenance of Hagglunds hydraulic drive systems.
This is a hands on role working with complex hydraulic circuits, rotating equipment, and auxiliary systems where safety, reliability, and technical precision are critical. Your hydraulic expertise and problem solving capability will play a key role in reducing downtime and supporting long term customer performance.
Flights, accommodation, and a vehicle are provided while on shift, with flights available from all major capital cities.
What you will be doing
- Breakdowns & Field Service: Respond to service and breakdown requests, carrying out onsite inspections, fault finding, repairs, and system testing to restore performance and minimise downtime.
- Diagnostics & Analysis: Diagnose issues across hydraulic systems including pressure, flow, contamination, leakage, overheating, and component wear, supported by testing and root cause analysis.
- Installation & Commissioning: Perform installation, commissioning, and modernisation of Hagglunds hydraulic drive systems including motors, power units, pipework, and controls.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Complete inspections and preventative maintenance, identifying further repair, upgrade, and spare parts opportunities.
- Customer Support: Act as a trusted technical advisor onsite, providing clear communication, practical solutions, and ongoing support to customers.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed service reports, quotations, and job documentation, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and quality control.
Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Hydraulics, or similar
- 5+ years’ experience in field service or working with hydraulic systems
- Experience working on or exposure to Hagglunds hydraulic drive systems (highly regarded)
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic equipment
- Experience working in mining, industrial, or heavy industry environments
- Ability to work autonomously in a FIFO environment
- Strong communication and customer engagement skills
- High attention to detail and focus on quality outcomes
- Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen
