If you are interested in working on the cutting-edge of technology, working at Bosch is the place for you! Bosch is expanding its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips in the U.S. and plans to invest some $1.9 billion in the Roseville site in California in the coming years. The first SiC semiconductors will be produced here on 200-millimeter wafers as of 2026.

We are committed to quality at Bosch. Our environment celebrates diversity and promotes career progression. We seek highly skilled, creative, result-oriented people who can look at technology from a new perspective and provide surprising insight. We are looking for candidates who want to shape and drive innovation at Bosch.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Power Component Architect (PCA) to join our silicon carbide (SiC) product release team in Roseville, CA. As a PCA, you will play a critical role in releasing our SiC PowerMOSFET technology and products and scaling them series production. These devices are mainly used for automotive applications, such as traction inverters, and will be used by both internal and external customers. By working with Bosch on the engineering process of these devices, you will work on the forefront of tomorrow’s technology for e-Mobility, such as (plug-in) hybrid and electrical vehicles.

As PCA, you will work in teams and projects consisting of different disciplines, such as lab characterization, device fabrication, semiconductor operations, customer interfaces and wide-bandgap technologies. Therefore, a good understanding of different physical aspects of SiC PowerMOSFET devices and wide-bandgap concepts are highly advantageous. As well as the capability to understand the physical working mechanisms and their implications on the final application. During your work, you will be at the forefront of bringing cutting-edge SiC technologies for power electronics from concept phase into series production.

Core responsibilities

  • Enable Technology Transfers: Partner closely with the Center of Competence in Germany, to drive the performance assessment semiconductor technologies that are transferred to our US manufacturing facility.
  • Derive Technical Specifications: Coordinate engineering sample build-ups, characterization and reliability testing. Drive the derivation and definition of Silicon Carbide (SiC) product specifications utilizing deep knowledge of power MOSFET testing concepts, leveraging statistical analysis and numerical simulations to establish robust datasheet limits, and securing alignment and formal sign-offs from internal and external stakeholders. Define a series testing concept to safeguard these specifications over lifetime during production.
  • Support New Product Introductions: Assist product release projects with introducing new product variants to fulfill customer requirements. This includes facilitating and supporting engineering activities between the foundry, characterization lab, and product managers to transition from sample production to series production.
  • Manage Stakeholder Requirements: Autonomously define engineering deliverables and drive alignment across multi-disciplinary teams, including project management, foundry partners, characterization labs, product managers, and customers, ensuring all technical and commercial requirements are balanced to meet aggressive project schedules.
  • Support on technical focus topics, and establish and maintain engineering methods and structures, both during the development- and series manufacturing phase.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Analytical Mindset: Capability to break down complex, multi-domain problems into structured, logical, and actionable architectural approaches.
  • Sound knowledge of semiconductor device concepts and physics thereof including characterization.
  • Communicative team player with the ability to coordinate teams and a high degree of willingness to work across departments in an international environment.
  • Proven experience in the application of statistical data analysis to solve complex technical problems.
  • Direct, hands-on experience utilizing Python, MATLAB, or equivalent scripting languages to analyze large, complex datasets and automate engineering workflows.
  • Ability to evaluate complex technical trade-offs (e.g., performance vs. cost) and proactively mitigate project risks before they impact customer deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, incl. technical documentation skills, with a track record of collaborating effectively across global, cross-functional organizations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Travel (including internationally) as needed.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor device, process, product, or foundry engineering.
  • Experience with electrical laboratory measurements and its challenges and limitations.

Additional Information

  • This role will be working on-site in Roseville, CA.
  • This position is on Monday-Friday, additional hours as necessary.
  • Indefinite US work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization is unavailable.
