Job Description
We currently have an opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Embedded Software V&V Engineer to join our Vehicle Motion Control team. You will be responsible for the black box testing and validation of cutting-edge embedded software for automotive closed-loop systems.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at our Head Office in Clayton, which may involve occasional domestic and international travel.

Key Accountabilities include:
- Analysing system and software requirements to develop comprehensive and robust test specifications.
- Design, develop, and execute black box tests for embedded software on closed-loop HIL systems.
- Ensuring validation activities align with the software development lifecycle, particularly within the V-model framework.
- Evaluating test results, identify software defects, and collaborate with the development team to ensure precise defect recording and resolution.
- Proactively investigate, diagnose, and correct faults within the HIL test environment to ensure accurate system behaviour and simulation integrity.
- Design and develop automation solutions and scripts to continuously improve test execution efficiency.
- Manage and coordinate test execution activities with local and global teams to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Provide technical leadership and training on software testing processes and best practices.
Qualifications
We are looking for a self-motivated, communicative "go-getter" who thrives in a dynamic environment, proactively takes ownership of complex testing challenges, and collaborates effectively with local and global teams.
To be considered for this position you are required to meet the following criteria:
- An Engineering Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Computer systems, Software or equivalent qualification.
- Deep understanding of the V-model and how software validation fits into the development lifecycle.
- Practical experience with requirements management tools, specifically IBM DOORS, to analyze specifications and write test cases.
- Hands-on experience working with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments, including system-level troubleshooting and debugging.
- Strong programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, Perl, CAPL) to build and maintain test automation scripts.
- Prior experience in coordinating tasks within the test team.
- A highly communicative, self-motivated individual with a "go-getter" attitude, capable of working autonomously and driving initiatives forward.
Other desirable experience that would be strongly considered:
- Holder of Test certification (e.g. I.S.T.Q.B or equivalent).
- Experience within the Automotive Industry.
