Job Description
- Execute the classification of products and technologies according to national and international customs tariff schedules.
- Collect and analyzing technical product information, including specifications and bills of materials, to determine correct tariff codes.
- Maintain and updating a database of classified products with their corresponding Harmonized System (HS) codes and related documentation.
- Apply the General Rules for the Interpretation (GRI) of the Harmonized System to ensure consistent and defensible classification decisions.
- Research customs rulings, explanatory notes, and legal precedents to resolve complex classification issues under supervision.
- Prepare documentation to support classification decisions for internal reviews and customs audits.
- Collaborate with team members to process classification requests and ensure alignment with established procedures.
- Contribute to the team's knowledge base by documenting classification rationales and research findings for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, company policies, and quality frameworks applicable to the role and assigned projects.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Managers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as product engineeing background (mechanical, electrical, Software,...)
Advanced proficiency in English, specifically reading comprehension skill and the ability to understand international regulations, technical description of product e.g.
1 - 3 years of experience in international trade compliance or product engineering field.
Having knowledge of export control regulations or Tariff Code classification is an advance.
Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in classification decisions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with other international trade compliance areas, such as sanctions and customs regulations, is a plus.
