Job Description

The Payroll Tax Intern is responsible for supporting payroll tax compliance and reconciliations in the United States. You will play a vital role in delivering accurate statutory reporting, timely remittance submissions, and resolving payroll tax issues, while also supporting payroll processing as needed. You will have hands on exposure to payroll operations, collaboration with internal stakeholders, and participation in audits and compliance initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support, reconcile, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns for U.S. federal, state, and local agencies
  • Research and respond to monthly variances related to payroll and tax accounts
  • Reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax reports for federal agencies, states, and other local entities
  • Research and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices, and support the response for tax audits and jurisdictional inquiries
  • Research required payroll taxes for federal agencies, states, provinces, and local entities and ensure these jurisdictions are updated on time in our on-premise payroll system for proper employee and company withholding

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 
  • Interest in learning and understanding payroll including garnishments, bonus payments, special payments, and payroll taxes for the US
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs, charts, and graphs would be preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, suitable for professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong customer service orientation
