Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Group Manager / Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing software development team responsible for building cloud-native, AI-driven industrial products and platforms.

The role requires strong hands-on AI and software product engineering expertise, deep understanding of software architectures and cloud-based ecosystems, and proven ability to transform research prototypes into scalable production solutions.

The candidate will lead & mentor a group delivering AI-first platforms, cloud applications, and AaaS (AI-as-a-Service) solutions, working closely with global teams across geographies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Manage an AI & software development group, driving delivery of scalable industry-strength products

• Mentor and grow engineers through technical guidance, architecture reviews, and code quality practices

• Foster an AI-first engineering culture focused on innovation, speed, and engineering excellence

• Innovate (cloud-based) industrial AI and software applications, based on a profound understanding of latest trends in software and AI architecture design and its software components.

Collaboration & Global Delivery

• Work with global cross-functional teams across time zones including research, product management, and engineering

• Translate advanced research innovations into deployable industrial solutions

• Partner with stakeholders to align engineering delivery with product strategy

Engineering Excellence

• Cultivate software engineering best practices including architecture governance, code reviews, testing, and documentation

• Promote secure, reliable, and high-quality software delivery

• Guide & support architecture decisions for products and platforms

Qualifications & Experience

• An advanced degree in AI & software engineering, or a related technical field.

• 10+ years of professional experience with a proven track record of delivering cloud-based, industrial AI and software applications in time, spec and quality.

• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams

• Strong experience in building up and leading software engineering teams, also familiar with the integration of AI features.

• Profound understanding of latest end-to-end architecture design principles for cloud-based, industrial AI and software applications as well as their software components.

• Ability to drive technical innovation and inspire teams.

• Excellent communication skills.

• High experience in working in international, interdisciplinary teams.

• Fluent in English. German language skills are a plus.

• Experienced with cloud-based AI and software applications for manufacturing is a plus.
