Job Description

Job Summary

  • Responsible for Battery testing (qualification, sample, reliability), documentation, problem resolution and failure analysis.
  • Ensure released Battery is fulfilling the internal standards, external product safety and country specific requirements.  
  • Perform failure analysis on failed Battery from qualification, testing, QZ, warranty and customer complaints. Drive for problem solving and improvement implementations.
  • Review & monitor the effectiveness of the Battery test plans and implement improvements where necessary. Perform & ensure test method alignment between test labs.
  • Responsible on the accuracy and competency of test reports generated.
  • Support component first article inspection approval (ISIR) and approval on incoming part inspection plan including cost reduction activities.
  • Manage and improve software quality processes, including requirement analysis, test case design, and defect tracking.
  • Maintain and optimize test documentation in tools like CodeBeamer or SharePoint.
  • Establish initial software testing strategy and its quality assurance methodologies, prepare training information package and provide training to quality engineers.

Job Scope

  • Testing and qualification: Responsible for conducting testing and qualification of Batteries. Ensure meeting committed date to customer with accurate report.
  • Develop, review and monitor the effectiveness of the Battery test plans and implement improvements where necessary. Develop test fixture / adaptor and plan equipment for better testing efficiency.
  • Establish work instructions for all equipment and testers, with regular review to ensure validity. Train test technicians and ensure their competencies in performing testing.
  • Work with project teams to realize the Battery testing schedule / life cycle.
  • Responsible for failure analysis and postmortem on defects by using appropriate tools methodology e.g. 5 Why’s, RCA, FTA. Drive for improvements implementation.
  • Provide advice on applicable test method to address root-cause of failure and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct regular and quarter review on defect trend for Battery failures for quality management. Conduct Failure Investigation with cross-functional team for non conformance incidents.
  • Perform failure analysis on failed parts (inclusive customer and warranty complaints) and support improvement to achieve the agreed target.
  • Conduct periodic audits on lab for lab compliances on functions and safety. Adhere 7S practice.
  • Software Quality Assurance, requirement management, documentation & compliance
  • Define and implement quality standards for embedded software and related applications in power tools.
  • Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, and test cases for software components, ensuring compliance with functional and safety requirements.
  • Analyze software requirements for completeness and testability.
  • Manage and track defects using tools like CodeBeamer, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Continuously improve QA processes, maintain comprehensive documentation in Share Point for test processes, results, and quality metrics.
  • Work closely with development, hardware, and system teams to ensure software quality aligns with product performance and safety standards.
  • Any other matters as assigned by Superior to meet the target and deadline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia. Fluent and understand Mandarin and/or Germans language will be added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an electronic manufacturing environment (Engineering, Quality and/or Testing). [Both]
  • Knowledge/experience in cell or battery pack manufacturing and testing (added advantage).
  • Experience in electronic components, PCBA, and electronic failure analysis (required).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, EN60745, and product safety requirements (e.g., UL, CSA).
  • Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., CodeBeamer).
  • Able to understand and interpret technical drawing and perform measurement with measuring equipment such as Power Analyzer, Oscilloscope, multi meter, universal tester and etc.
  • Hands on experience on failure analysis and problems solving methodology e.g. 5 Why’s, RCA, fault tree analysis etc.
  • Knowledge and competency in power electronics.
  • Ability to apply in-depth knowledge of problem solving technique in solving Quality issues including risk assessment evaluation.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels within the organization, suppliers and customers.
  • Proficient in application of DOE, SPC, MSA, APQP and 8D.
  • Ability to manage personnel time to ensure completion of assignments.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and self-motivation.
