Job Description
The Vice President, Development is a senior executive leader responsible for building and leading a newly established, multi-disciplinary development organization serving the Bosch Power Tools division in North America and the Dremel and Rotozip business globally.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, Power Tools North America, this role owns the end-to-end product and technology strategy, portfolio governance, and execution engine that will define the next generation of category leadership. The role will build and lead a high-performance, multi-disciplinary development organization that integrates market insight, industrial design, engineering, product management, quality, regulatory, and program execution into a unified innovation system.
This leader will ensure the product roadmap is born from deep North American market insight, validated by commercial performance, aligned to global platform strategies, and executed with speed, discipline, and world-class technical rigor.
The Vice President, Development will directly shape the future competitiveness, profitability, and innovation leadership of Bosch Power Tools North America and the global Dremel and Rotozip businesses. This role is central to defining how Bosch wins in the marketplace — through superior technology, disciplined portfolio management, operational excellence, and deep customer understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Vision & Market-Driven Roadmap
- Define and execute a development strategy aligned with the growth objectives of Bosch Power Tools North America and Dremel globally.
- Build a 5 year product roadmap rooted in North American consumer, end user and customer insights and validated by commercial performance.
- Ensure all product investments are backed by rigorous market data, application understanding, and financial discipline.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to translate strategy into differentiated, scalable solutions.
Leadership of a Multi-Disciplinary Development Organization
Lead and integrate a unified organization spanning:
- Market Insights

- Test & Qualification Laboratories
- Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Responsibilities include:
- Building a high-performance, end-to-end lifecycle operating model.
- Establishing clear decision rights across regional and global matrix stakeholders.
- Developing leadership bench strength and succession pipelines.
- Attracting and retaining top functional talent across all disciplines.
- Driving an agile, accountable, and performance-oriented culture.
- Leading organizational transformation to improve velocity, collaboration, and innovation output.
Engineering, Quality & Compliance Excellence
- Drive technical innovation while ensuring superior product performance, durability, and reliability.
- Ensure world-class product performance, durability, and reliability aligned with Bosch & Dremel brand standards.
- Strengthen validation rigor through advanced simulation, digital engineering tools, and lab capability expansion.
- Own product safety, regulatory compliance (UL, CSA, DOE, EPA, global standards), and recall avoidance systems.
Portfolio Governance & Financial Performance
- Accountable for delivering defined revenue contribution from products launched.
- Drive gross margin expansion through innovation, cost engineering, and platform leverage.
- Own annual R&D capital and operating budgets.
- Implement rigorous stage-gate governance with quantified portfolio scoring (ROI, strategic fit, capacity load, risk profile).
- Establish clear kill/continue decision discipline and portfolio health metrics.
- Reduce warranty costs and lifecycle quality expenses through robust design and validation systems.

Qualifications
- Proven executive leadership experience in product development, engineering, or R&D within a complex, branded, multi-channel, global consumer and commercial durables products organization.
- Demonstrated success leading large, cross-functional development teams with significant revenue impact.
- Track record of launching commercially successful products in competitive North American markets.
- Experience operating in global matrix organizations with regional and global brand responsibilities.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing significant capital and operating budgets.
- Deep understanding of quality systems, product safety, compliance, and regulatory environments.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strategic architect with the ability to transform a strong existing organization into a high-performance development organization, unlocking the full potential of our brands and categories in the North American market.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $240,000 to $308,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
