Job Description
The Opportunity
Bosch Rexroth Ltd is offering one undergraduate the opportunity to join our Purchasing Department for a 12-month industrial placement. Based at our St Neots site, this is a fantastic chance to gain significant, hands-on experience within a global engineering and technology leader.
This role is not a passive one. You will become an essential and integrated member of our team, taking ownership of critical departmental tasks and contributing directly to our operational success.

Your Contribution & Key Responsibilities
As our Purchasing Intern, you will be at the heart of our daily supplier operations and a key contributor to ensuring our supply chain runs smoothly. Your responsibilities will be broad and impactful:
1. Supplier & Order Management:
- Act as the primary contact for daily progress chasing with suppliers across all three of our UK sites.
- Manage the entire expediting process for all open orders with our crucial third-party suppliers.
- Provide vital team support, including providing holiday cover for key purchasing functions and assisting with raising Purchase Orders during busy periods.
2. Data Integrity & Performance Monitoring:
- Ensure data integrity by managing the accurate and timely entry of all order confirmations into our SAP system.
- Take responsibility for investigating and reporting any deviations related to pricing, delivery dates, or technical specifications.
- Maintain and update our Vendor Performance Review (VPR) reports, a critical task that involves tracking the root causes of late orders to support continuous supplier improvement.
3. Process & Compliance:
- Conduct routine compliance checks on crucial supplier documentation, such as ISO certifications, ensuring our partners meet required standards.
- Interface directly between suppliers and internal departments to ensure all necessary documents and agreements are in place.
- You will also be given a specific, high-impact project aimed at delivering a continuous improvement to the department.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a proactive and meticulous individual who is ready to take on a challenge.
Your Profile:
- Currently studying for a degree in a relevant business or supply chain discipline.
- Computer literate with a strong command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- An analytical, flexible, and methodical approach to work.
- A confident communicator with an excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken).
- A self-starter who can use their own initiative, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
Additional Information
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
