Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The Dock Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate loading and unloading of freight at dock and shipping areas. This role supports inbound and outbound logistics by operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move materials, perform inspections, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance to support uninterrupted warehouse operations. Document inventory movements and maintain accurate activity logs per company standards. (40%)
- Operate walkie riders and other material handling equipment to transport, replenish, and put away materials. Participate in regular housekeeping, including sweeping, organizing, and restocking. (10%)
- Load and unload materials at dock doors, ensuring safe handling and proper placement. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free dock and warehouse environment. (15%)
- Conduct visual inspections to identify damages, shortages, overages, and quality deficiencies; escalate issues to leadership. Support cycle counting and inventory control processes to maintain stock accuracy. (10%)
- Utilize RF units and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to scan, track, and manage inventory accurately. Engage in cross-functional training and assist in receiving, shipping, and other departments as needed. (10%)
- Perform quality checks and ensure all materials meet company standards prior to processing. Comply with all safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and company policies. (10%)
- Inspect equipment daily and report maintenance needs or safety concerns to supervisors immediately. (5%)
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Required: High School Diploma/GED
- Preferred: Forklift Certification; OSHA Certification
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing or industrial environment. (Entry)
- Proficient in operating powered industrial trucks (PIT), specifically walkie riders; forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire. (Entry)
- Working knowledge of RF scanning devices and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required. Basic computer literacy for logging inventory transactions and interpreting digital work instructions. (Entry)
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards and safe material handling practices. Must demonstrate consistent adherence to safety procedures and housekeeping standards. (Entry)
- Ability to identify inventory discrepancies, damages, and non-conforming product. Must be able to complete quality checks with a high degree of accuracy. (Entry)
- Strong verbal communication skills required to interact with teammates, leads, and supervisors. Must be a collaborative team player with a willingness to be cross-trained in multiple warehouse functions. (Entry)

The U.S. hourly rate of $19.87 - $23.66 an hour. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, work experience and job knowledge, complexity of the role, job location, etc.
