Lancaster, PA is the state-of-the-art design center for Bosch moving cameras. These cameras pan, tilt and zoom to help users locate, track and zoom in on objects of interest. This role requires in-office presence; candidates must live within a commutable distance to Lancaster, PA site.  Relocation assistance will not be provided.

 

Job Description

General

  • Perform hands-on engineering supporting the creation of the next generation of moving cameras with world-class quality and performance
  • Develop and implement design solutions to support lead engineer and system architects during project activities
  • Provide technical content for ME hardware development within a project
  • Develop subsystems to support overall architecture implementation Innovation
  • Implement new technologies to meet challenging requirements of product development
  • Develop solutions considering environmental requirements from around the world

 

Operational

  • Lead cross-functional design review workshops
  • Support technical risk activities through Focus Area Matrices and Failure Mode Effects Analyses
  • Maintain complex BoM structures for multiple product variants
  • Create and maintain assemblies within CAD system
  • Support mechanical layout of PCBAs
  • Develop functional prototypes and design simulations for concept validation
  • Consult with international suppliers to support development through custom part tooling review and process evaluations
  • Aide in life cycle management (LCM) activities including EOL, cost down, and field complaint investigations
  • Work with chief engineer to develop solutions that support key project requirements: time to market, cost, reliability, service etc.
  • Work with portfolio owners to develop product requirements

 

People

  • Receive mentoring from senior engineers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues to achieve system requirements

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • 5+ years experience in new product development with Electronics HW
  • 3+ years experience in product development for series production
  • Design of mechatronic base products with integration of electrical hardware [preferred]
  • Six Sigma credential [preferred]
  • Strong communication skillset [presentation & written] and ability to reduce complex topics to manageable and actionable discussion points.
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance concepts and designing for a global market.
  • Experience with basic machine shop equipment
  • Experience with following design and manufacturing processes
    • ECAD / MCAD fluency [CREO preferred]
    • PCBA packaging and enclosure development.
    • Thermal management
    • Numerical simulation [thermal, stress: static & dynamic]
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): ISO & ASME
    • Problem solving skillset [8D]
    • Design for Vibration & Shock
    • Design for reliability
    • Manufacturing techniques: sheetmetal, high-pressure die-casting, plastic injection molding, NC machining, and die-cutting
