Job Description

Do you have a passion for music or audio and a background in Engineering or Physics? If so, this will be an extremely fun opportunity for you!

You will be responsible for the design and development of loudspeakers and loudspeaker systems. You will document and perform validation in accordance with US, EU and worldwide standards. You will innovate technologies, processes, and engineering methods for loudspeaker electro-acoustic systems engineering. You will be the engineer responsible for multiple development projects. Products range from entry level professional portable speakers to large scale sound systems for concert level reproduction.

  • Design and develop Electro-Voice passive and powered loudspeaker products from initial concept through serial production.
  • Research potential new technologies and materials for: high power transducers, power amplifiers, loudspeaker enclosures, loudspeaker processing, embedded software, loudspeaker suspension systems and arrays.
  • Model and simulate enclosures, waveguides, driver chassis, suspension systems and other components using SolidWorks, MATLAB, COMSOL and other simulation software.
  • Design for manufacture optimization with factories and vendors.
  • Assemble prototype loudspeakers and perform hands on design iteration.
  • Manage documentation including 3D files and bills of materials.
  • Development of test and design verification for functional and reliability testing including testing of speaker components and complete systems.
  • Evaluate loudspeaker system and speaker component performance and reliability, failure modes and root cause failure analysis.
  • Verify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as CE, UL, Eurocode, EN1991-4, DGUV Rev. 17, ANSI 1.8-2018, ISO 12100:2010(E).
  • Intelligent design to minimize product cost and monitor cost throughout projects.
  • Support projects during the full life cycle, work with quality and service departments to solve ongoing quality issues should they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to innovate as part of an industry leading R&D team.
  • Demonstrate passion for product development of the highest standard.
  • One or more years’ experience designing, modeling, simulating and testing structures or acoustic systems and their components, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing and testing passive and powered professional loudspeaker systems including rigging, transport, system drive, and amplification is an advantage.
  • Experience with programming MATLAB, Mathcad or similar is an advantage.
  • Experience with 3D CAD – SolidWorks is an advantage.
  • Experience with multi-physics FEA software for acoustics systems (COMSOL, Ansys etc) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and application of wood box construction, plastics molding, steel forming and aluminum casting methods is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of: UL, CE, is an advantage.
  • Passion for music is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to travel internationally 4-5 times per year as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
