Job Description

  • To develop and maintain a pro-active approach to quality management that will include a critical analysis of both supplier performance and customer expectations in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • To agree with the appropriate QA compliance objectives, agreeing standards and establishing clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply to ensure that targets are achieved.
  • Manage the external QA/QC process including incoming inspection processes to ensure high standards of vendor products which will meet the quality standards of the business.
  • Work with Purchasing Team to identify new suppliers, establish quality requirements for external suppliers, including researching potential suppliers, visiting, and auditing new suppliers.
  • To monitor and assess supplier performance to ensure HydraForce standards are being met, including reviewing Progress Reports received from Suppliers, incoming inspection records from the inspection processes and assessing their Quality Management Systems
  • Conducting process audits at suppliers to ensure compliance with HydraForce standards.
  • To act as the interface with suppliers for all aspects of QA/QC, including supervision of investigations of quality issues at suppliers, liaising with customers and suppliers where necessary to manage and understand quality issues, seeing them through to satisfactory resolution.
  • To ensure quality tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  • Manage corrective action processes for internal and external concerns, analyzing results, identifying trends, and taking appropriate action to remedy identified issues.
  • To manage team and motivate staff to ensure that they fulfil their roles and meet targets effectively and to agreed quality standards.
  • To manage all recruitment, development, and employment matters within the teams, working with HR where appropriate to address and resolve issues accordingly.
  • Liaise and co-operate with quality management and standards bodies and ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation.
  • Champion and maintain the company’s values and culture to all stakeholders.
  • Uphold and drive forward the company’s high-quality standards by actively endorsing and promoting all aspects of the Company Mission throughout all areas of the business.

Qualifications

Qualifications & experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in Manufacturing or Industrial Systems Engineering
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Experienced in team management and motivating and supporting staff to maintain high quality level of service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experienced in 8D, with a track record of identifying solutions and delivering recommendations,
  • Proven, in-depth experience in Lean Manufacturing process improvement, with a thorough understanding of broad business and manufacturing practices.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience of hydraulics advantageous
  • Computer literate, with sound knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel and familiar with Q-Pulse (or similar)
  • Familiar with ISO 9000 and 14000, FMEA, APQP, SPC and R & R studies
