Job Description

  • Manage the design, specification and implementation of programming for assembly and test equipment.
  • Be the key programming support for existing machine breakdowns as well as new projects which are introduced.
  • Management of internal projects to ensure they are achieved within agreed time-frame, providing regular updates and reports as required.
  • Produce required relevant internal documentation to company standards on a timely basis with accuracy.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate programming within allocated parameters to ensure minimum impact and loss of production time.
  • Develop, evaluate and improve programming methods, utilising previous experience to implement process documentation that can then be used to train others within the business.
  • Collaborate with Production Managers and Engineers regarding programming development on existing and new equipment.
  • Liaise with suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials and parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC/HND level in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Experience with National instruments (NI) hardware and LabVIEW is essential.
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software is preferred (Omron preferred).
  • Experience with HMI programming and robotics is preferred.
  • Successful completion of Engineering Apprenticeship preferred.
  • Practical background, ideally trained as an Apprentice Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience of working in a manufacturing environment essential.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and/or pneumatics preferred.
  • Understanding lean principles and continuous improvement tools advantageous.
