An opportunity has arisen for a data protection solicitor/ barrister with a minimum 2 years’ experience, to join the Bosch Data Protection and Information Security Department as a dedicated Data Protection Lawyer. This is an excellent role for a motivated, self-starter to gain invaluable commercial experience at one of the world’s largest technology companies. The Bosch Group’s UK Data Protection and Information Security Department advises each of Bosch’s divisions, including: automotive technology, industrial technology, consumer goods and energy and building technology; as well as working on projects involving smartphone applications, digital offers, and integrated smart solutions.

Job Description

  • A qualified solicitor/ barrister within the data protection and information security department focusing on data protection compliance. The role responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and drafting legal documents, internal and external data processing agreements, and data privacy notices;
  • Investigating data breaches and responding to subject access requests;
  • Ensuring strict compliance with all data processing activities recording, assessing and reporting on all risks associated with these activities;
  • Managing all customer facing digital platforms (websites, apps, social media channels) ensuring legal and data protection requirements are met;
  • Designing and delivering relevant training material, creating awareness among employees regarding data protection requirements;
  • The successful candidate will be required to research a variety of legal issues and keep abreast of current legislative requirements, taking the lead in managing bespoke data protection projects within the UK.
  • In addition to the primary roles and responsibilities, the successful candidate will also support and advise the wider global information security and data protection teams on UK Data Protection requirements.
  • The successful candidate will report into the Data Protection and Information Security Officer, who is responsible for all data protection and information security affecting the Bosch businesses in the UK (excluding the Bosch Home Appliances business).



  • Qualified lawyer with minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
  • Experience of UK GDPR, PECR and other relevant data protection legislation;
  • Good communication and collaboration skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Training contract undertaken at a law firm/ chambers
  • Previous in-house Data Protection experience;
  • An active interest in Data Protection and Data Security law;
  • A good understanding of how businesses operate.
  • General understanding of EU regulatory and compliance matters including, competition law and the Bribery Act.
  • German language proficiency
  • CIPP/E
  • Audit certification
  • Understanding of data security concepts
