Job Description

We conduct research on state-of-the-art deep generative models that are used to enable real-world Bosch systems to be data-efficient and safe. We are looking for a research scientist to support us both in academic research activities and in transferring those results to real-world systems.

The goal of this position is to work on problems such as developing new learning algorithms for generating better training datasets, making algorithms robust, reliable, and safe when learning even from limited/biased datasets, understanding where the models fail, and investigating algorithms for online adaptation in a self-supervised manner. This includes work on (but not limited to):

  • Use of generative models for data augmentation: generation of synthetic data using both computer graphics and image-synthesis with generative models (i.e., VAE, GANs, diffusion models), as well as techniques for domain transfer.
  • Adversarial learning for data augmentation, robust training, and imbalance learning.
  • Continual learning.

Concretely, your tasks will include:

  • Develop and implement novel approaches for synthetic data generation and augmentation using deep generative models and computer graphics techniques, publish results at top-tier AI conferences (CVPR, ICLR, NeurIPS, etc.), and apply them on real-world problems.
  • Coordinate with Bosch business divisions to ensure our research/methods fit their problems, support the transfer from research prototypes into products.
  • Supervise PhD students and support collaborations with academic partners.


  • Education: excellent PhD degree in Deep Learning or Computer Vision with strong publication record at top AI conferences (CVPR, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICCV, ICML, etc.)
  • Experience and Knowledge: expertise in developing and implementing advanced machine learning / AI algorithms, strong background and experience in deep generative modeling and its applications to perception problems, demonstrated experience in writing high quality research code and working in a professional software development environment, several years programming experience in Python and fluency in working with at least one deep learning framework, such as PyTorch
  • Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken)
