Job Description

Over the last few years, Bosch has established the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence (BCAI) as one of the leading enterprise research centers for AI. We are a motivated global team with the mission to incubate, create and roll out AI solutions to Bosch. We work closely with domain experts on exciting Bosch data sets for real world applications to transform Bosch into a data driven company.

  • As the lead for design & evolution of software and IT architecture you are responsible for innovative AI solutions throughout their lifecycle with a substantial freedom to operate.
  • You collaborate with data scientists & engineers in different teams and locations around the globe to build scalable and reliable AI solutions. You will have direct impact on new and exciting AI solutions that will change Bosch's products and processes.
  • You are an integral part of strategy discussions and are radiant with passion when presenting your topics to the entire company.
  • Besides, you will have frequent exchange with customers, management and the central department for Corporate Technology to drive standards for the BCAI and Bosch. In our ever-evolving AI solutions & their supporting services, you will enable constant change.
  • Together with your teammates, you will foster the software engineering culture in our team.
  • You like to continuously grow your skills and support your colleagues in improving theirs. You take pride in writing and delivering production grade code and will collaborate with various levels of management and technical staff. Travel to local Robert Bosch locations might be required occasionally.


  • Education: excellent degree (Master or PhD) in Computer Science or major with computational focus (Physics, Maths, Computational Biology/Chemistry) or a comparable qualification
  • Personality and Working Practice: open-minded, agile mindset, reliable and a motivated team player who is keen to learn new technologies in an international team
  • Experience: several years of professional experience in delivering software products or software solutions to customers, architecture design in IT service development or the big data space, senior-level proficiency in some modern programming languages (e.g. Python, Java/Scala, or Go) and Linux experience; experience in scaling applications and services to large data volumes, as such firm knowledge of applied distributed computing (e.g. Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark) as well as ideally first experiences with at least one of the major cloud vendors: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Know-how: firm command over documentation and communication languages and respective tools (C4 model, arc42, UML, FML, 4+1 model); knowledge how to build secure IT architectures, especially in the context of Cloud setups and the desire to incorporate this into the design of your environments; ideally experience in the field of AI with a focus on deployments of AI models and in defining and documenting enterprise architecture as well as in DevOps mode
  • Enthusiasm: keen interest in evaluating the up-and-coming ideas and methods in the software architecture space (e.g. Twelve-Factor App methodology) and following the publications on Software Architecture & Development of thought leaders such as M. Fowler, M. Feathers & J. Humble
  • Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken)
