We are developing Battery Management Systems (BMS) for 48V Li-ion batteries for mild hybrid electrical vehicles (mHEV) and potentially electrical vehicles. The introduction of 48V systems is an essential, cost effective move by the automotive industry towards the reduction of the emission and the fuel consumption of vehicles. The 48V high performance battery that includes the BMS electronics is responsible for storing the energy recuperated during braking and for providing energy during acceleration for additional torque.
The 48V battery including the BMS is responsible to monitor and control the state and the performance of the battery, to communicate with the main control unit of the vehicle, and intervenes when necessary.
As a Functional Safety System Engineer, You would be responsible for the technical content required for 48V Battery product safety according to ISO 26262 addressing development activities of the system development in the platform or customer project
Your responsibilities to achieve our common goal:
► Derivation of Technical Safety Requirements based on confirmed Functional Safety Requirements, their superior Safety Goals and dedicated level of integrity (ASIL). Development of Functional and Technical Safety Concepts.
► Control of system domain specific safety topics. Responsible for the delivery of the system related work products according to the safety plan.
► Allocation of safety-relevant requirements to development domains, e.g. hardware, software, calibration.
► Participation in customer meetings to support discussions about the technical safety-concept of the system development (on demand).
► Definition and confirmation of safety-related Verification Criteria.
► Review of safety-related system-concepts.
► Status report of assigned work packages to the PSM.
► Responsibility for the safety-related system development within the product-FMEA-, FTA-, FMEDA- or DRBFM-work-groups.
► Impact Evaluation of provided system change-requests on the safety-concept. Impact Analysis of pre-assessed HW/SW safety issues on system level.
► Recommendation of further safety measures on a technical basis for identified weaknesses in existing safety concept
► System specific contact person for the Project Safety Manager (PSM). Participates in project-specific safety-meetings (internal and external) and safety impact analysis.
What makes you special:
► Bsc or Msc computer science / electrical engineer / mechatronics engineer study background
► Experience with safety relevant system development in the field of automotive engineering
► Experience with system architecture and/or requirements engineering with software determined systems in safety critical environment
► Fundamental understanding of ISO26262
► Experience with customer communication
► You are a self-starter with excellent risk management skills
► You see the big picture considering all the technical aspects
► You have very good English and/or German skills
