Job Description

Etas UK are recruiting for an experienced Technical Support Engineer, (Software) a key role in a small dynamic team.  Primarily you will be based with and working alongside our UK sales team located at our Debry (DE21) sales office. Travel to customer sites and some international travel are a requirement of the role.

You will attend customer meetings to demonstrate our products and their capability, utilizing your experience and knowledge of ETAS hardware and software products in the areas of Measurement and Calibration acting as the technical expert during the sales process.

In the role of Technical Support Engineer (Software) your focus will be in both pre-sales and post-sales support:

Pre-sale you will use your technical expertise and knowledge to assist customers and offer technical solutions with evaluations and deployment of ETAS‘s products and solutions. Supporting Key Account Managers with presentation material and when required to present solutions to customers

Post-sales support will include delivering technical expertise in resolving software problems and managing the resolution directly with the customer either remotely or at customer site.

You will have the support and work closely with the larger Field Application Engineer team in our Stuttgart, Germany head office. This is a role that will  that will broaden your experience – both technical and commercial –  and equip you with the skills and resilience to develop you your career in a number of directions in the future


Knowledge of ETAS products or a similar product in the area of Measurement and Calibration as well as basic programming skills in C, C++.  Knowledge of Python and experience with Matlab and Simulink in development would be advantageous.

Experience and knowledge of CAN and microcontrollers is essential.

An understanding of any of the following would be advantageous, however not essential: Automotive Ethernet, BroadR-Reach and corresponding measurement and development tools. 

Experience with various real time operating systems specifically Linux and QNX would also be advantageous

Due to the range of software used across the suite of ETAS products it is essential that you are self-motivated to new languages to a basic level and problem solve.

A degree ideally in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science however other related subject areas will be considered.

A full UK driver’s licence with the flexibility to travel to UK customer sites.  Travel to Germany for meetings and trainings is a key requirement of this role.

Analytical thinking, innovative problem solving, customer focus and technical enthusiasm are key to be successful in this role.

You will be flexible, self-motivated, self-sufficient and a completer of tasks, who can easily demonstrate the ability to prioritize, multitask and handle pressure.
