Job Description

You will work in an agile development teams (DevOps) in international projects and you will develop innovative systems and components in the fields of the industrial automation and edge computing. The ideal candidate demonstrates inventiveness in the identification of the future trends and technologies, and has already gained experience in software development, WebApp technologies, Cloud/Edge computing and algorithm development as well as Machine Learning.

The resource will support the team in the following activities: 

Reliable implementation and continuous development: flexible work and teamwork allows you to consistently design innovative projects and develop creative ideas. You will be responsible for ideation, development, deployment and operation of a distributed Big Data Platform. You will develop as part of an Inner Source Community.

Help us to shape the future: you will develop WebApps (Front-end) as well as Cloud/Edge based micro services (back-end) using a cloud based software build environment (GitLab CI/CD Pipelines). You will create and orchestrate containerized applications, using tools like Docker and Kubernetes. You will have to evaluate the recent trends and technologies and to apply them. You will support the development of concepts, system designs and Cloud-Native architectures for the industrialization of the real-time Data Analytics Platforms.

Live cooperation: you will be actively involved in the architecture and design discussions of our micro service architecture. Teamwork, pair programming, code reviews and rapid prototyping will be part of your daily routine. You will coordinate with users, customers and stakeholders from various departments and plants worldwide and implement IT systems in close collaboration with our global team. You build a network with colleagues in international projects.

Taking the responsibility: you will interact with clients, translating their necessities and requirements into a product and you will take the responsibility for the emerging solution. You will become a motivated member of our young and agile IoT development teams and you will be involved actively in composition, implementation and documentation of the new software component. You will decide autonomously with your team the best architecture to achieve highly scalable and fail-safe products.

Qualifications

Working method: your work methodology should be structured, capable of abstraction and analytical thinking. It should take full advantage of the autonomy granted to the team, while taking care of your responsibilities.

Experience and Know-How: you have experience with managing Linux Servers and good knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Go, Scala, Java, C, C++, JavaScript (Typescript). Furthermore, it is required to have experience with web services, micro-service architectures, cloud-native engineering, streaming/batch processing. The following technologies are also required for the position:
o IoT, Big Data and Streaming/Batch Processing like Hadoop, SQL databases, Time-series databases, Telegraf, Grafana, Kafka and MQTT
o Containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Docker Swarm
o Basic knowledge in web frameworks and technologies like Angular, React, Bootstrap, Node.js, Spring Boot, REST and XML is desirable and considered as a plus.

Language: professional English, both spoken and written, is required

Education: you should have a master degree in Information Technologies (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Business Informatics, etc) or comparable qualification successfully completed. You should have already worked in interdisciplinary and agile teams and have experience in web or back-end development, optimally in the cloud/edge environment.
