ETAS, Inc. seeks a Field Application Engineer at its facility located at 3021 Miller Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The Field Application Engineer will handle solution development. S/he will propose and specify tailored ETAS measurement, calibration, and diagnostic (MCD) solutions that improve the customer’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) development processes. S/he will oversee technical interaction with customers including providing technical presentations, introduction of new solutions, driving the resolution of critical customer issues and tracking open and closed action items. S/he will serve as the interface between the customer, product development and product management. S/he will handle business development. S/he will support the pre-sales cycle and overall account strategy in close coordination with the Account Managers through presentations, demonstrations, managing customer and evaluation projects. S/he will drive the growth of new ETAS MCD business through the identification of customer needs, proper positioning of ETAS solutions, and demonstrating a good understanding of the commercial side of each opportunity. S/he will act as a Technical Expert. S/he will establish and maintain a strong understanding of smaller customers’ ECU development processes as it relates to maximizing their use of ECU development interfaces and what is required to integrate these interfaces into the ETAS tool chain from both the ECU hardware and software side. S/he will facilitate the creation and modification of either new or existing tools, and description files such as A2L. S/he will create and maintain demo and training material for both internal and external levels. S/he will represent ETAS at industry events. 10% domestic and international travel required. REQS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, plus 3 years of work experience in embedded software development systems. Additionally, the applicant must have professional work experience with: (1) 3 years of experience with automotive software development tools such as: test benches, measurement and calibration tools (INCA, CANape), and rapid prototyping tools (dSpace, INTECRIO); (2) 3 years of experience working directly with customers in sales and support roles and activities related to automotive ECU (Electronic Control Unit) development solution sales; (3) 2 years of experience working with vehicle electronics, vehicle communication buses, and protocols such as: CAN, CCP, XCP, and UDS; (4) 2 years of experience working with ECU (Electronic Control Unit) description file formats such as: A2L and CANDB to provide measurement and calibration access for ECUs; and (5) 2 years of experience with the process and tools of embedded automotive software development such as: MATLAB, Simulink, C, and ASCET.
