Start date is Immediate. Duration of internship could last up to 6 months or longer.
A LOG Intern has the opportunity to:
Gain in-depth knowledge of Albion’s Logistics processes
Provide feedback and suggest strategies and improvement based on educational and other work related experiences.
Apply knowledge and experiences by developing and driving a project(s) from beginning to conclusion.
Albion Logisitics Department goals for 2019 will focus on Inventory Accuracy improvements and 3PL productivity gains
The Logistic team is comprised of 6 Logistic/Planning members and 5 Logisitic Material Flow members
The Logistic Planning team is responsible for the customer service, production and material planning and all related continuous improvement strategies
The Logistic Materials team is responsible for the 3rd party Logistic oversight, packaging, physical movement and continuous improvement strategies
AiP’s largest purchased component is motors supplied by the Bosch Toluca facility. Inbound shipments are based on e-Kanban signals from Albion Material Planning
LOG is responsible for a 3PL, which manages material receipt, storage, movement, transport and customer shipments at two off-site warehouses and within the plant.
Gain In-depth Understanding of Logistic within a manufacturing setting:
A portion of each week will be working with the associates in the following groups:
Manufacturing Material Lot Formation
Materials Daily Management
Packaging Design and Control Processes
3rd Party Logisitics
Develop and Drive Projects Such As:
A portion of each week will be working on programs such as:
QDR Reduction – understand and track defect causes to drive overall reduction. Develop processes to disposition QDR material in a timely manner
Establish data collection to identify then Pareto LOG and cross disciplinary processes causing inventory inaccuracy
Research and define plan to optimize material flow from receipt of components through shipment of product
Develop detailed project plan for RFID implementation. Present plan, gain approval and begin coordination of plan implementation
Review and recommend Fork lift utilization
Successful candidates will likely be 3rd or 4th year students of a logistics study program and or experience working in roles related to logistics.
Background / Skills / Behavior Required:
Major or Minor in Supply Chain Degree
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word)
Strong communication skills (Verbal and Written)
High degree of accuracy
Background / Skills / Behavior Desired:
Basic understanding of SAP
Bosch Production System trained
Six Sigma Green Belt certified
Shainin Problem Solving trained
