Job Description

Purchasing Manager is responsible for the companies sourcing of 3rd party equipment, goods and services to the right quality, cost, and delivery. This includes performing strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, finding new and developing key suppliers in order to reach our profit targets.

  • Defines goals, objective and tasks for the team as well as individuals.

  • Leads team members to the next excellence level by encouraging creativity and fostering an open innovative work environment.

  • Drive continuous improvement and measures performance by KPIs.

  • Leads and supports projects, incorporates relevant expertise and experience and shares information and best practices.

  • Recruits, on-boards and retains properly qualified personnel.  Manages training, performance and compensation.

  • Maintains compliance with Bosch company policies, quality standards and industry safety standards.

  • Defines, implements and monitors departmental budgets and business plans.

  •  Defines, implements and manages product specific supply chain strategies.

  •  Defines, implements and manages material group and service strategies.

  •  Leads key negotiations (high impact materials) regarding pricing and other financial aspects.

  •  Assures implementation of global pricing agreements negotiated by corporate financing.

  •  Leads immediate countermeasures in case of critical delivery and quality issues caused by suppliers.

  •  Monitors and supports implementation of corrective actions for supplier performance in Cost, Quality and Delivery.

  • Delivers accurate and timely required material management reports.

  • Supports the analysis of relevant purchasing data, and then determines and implements improvement activities.

  • Approves purchase orders, requisitions, travel expenses and other expenses via workflows and according to regulations.

  • Provides state of the art IT solutions, processes and tools in order to reduce tactical work load.

  • Oversees strategic supplier development, including adding new suppliers and eliminating non-performing suppliers.

  • Leads claim management efforts and supports negotiations in case of quality issues.

  • Leads team to negotiations and cost saving activities to reduce PPC.

  • Engage with Engineering to be involved at the early stages of new product development and future sourcing as well as leading projects to drive cost reduction.

  • Establish appropriate contracts for all relevant business interactions.

  • Represent Bosch Packaging Technologies, Inc. in national and international business meetings.


Required  Competencies:

  • Advanced MS Office and SAP skills.

  • In depth knowledge of specialized
    field. Technical process expertise within and across functions.

  • Leads and contributes to cross functional teams; ensures an environment that fosters collaboration and effective working relationships within and across groups.

  • Sets appropriate targets for functional area and drives self and others for results.

  • Solves problems across functions, modifies and improves standard techniques.

  • Identifies problems, develops corrective action plans and implements process improvement solutions within work area.

  • Demonstrates project management skills; including planning, prioritizing, monitoring, budgeting, coordinating, and change in risk management.

  • Directs and coordinates the analysis and resolution of complex operational problems and special assignments.

  • Responds to an open mind to changes and new ideas and adjusts quickly to ambiguity and shifting goals.

  • Experience in a supervisor role.

  • Ability to set goals and development activities and drives for results; including encouragement in the development of others.


  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business or related field, Master’s preferred

  • 8+ Years’ relevant experience in procurement
