Booksource™ is the premier trade book distributor to K-12 school classrooms across the country. We work with hundreds of publishers representing more than 30,000 book titles to sell and distribute authentic literature to educators who use real books, called trade books (versus textbooks), to teach reading, writing and other subjects. These are the books kids actually want to read! Our mission is to make it easy for educators to purchase, organize, and incorporate classroom libraries into their schools in the hopes that every school in America will have classroom libraries.
The Social Media Strategist is responsible for developing, executing and measuring social media content and programs, as well as growth and engagement strategies to increase brand awareness among our target audience, educators. Additionally, this person will develop multimedia content for digital platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage, monitor and maintain all social and digital media, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and LinkedIn for one brand - including developing strategies to increase engagement across all platforms and also drive audiences to the website
Update and maintain a robust social media calendar which optimizes sales and marketing campaign content and also leverages seasonal/holiday/industry calendar opportunities
Create, edit, publish and share content daily (original text, photography, graphics, video, and HTML)
Build meaningful connections and encourage community members through dialog and messaging
Communicate with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner
Moderate user-generated content and messages appropriately, based on company and community policies
Track, analyze, and report on social media marketing efforts to gain insight into traffic, demographics, and effectiveness and make strategic recommendations to the company
Create, coordinate, and manage social promotions/contests tied to sales and marketing campaigns
Collaborate with multiple departments to look at ways social media can work within broader sales and marketing campaigns
Uphold digital brand standards by monitoring and supporting independent sales consultants on all social media channels. Provide direction and create digital resources specific to independent sales consultants, as well as identify new ways independent sales consultants can digitally enhance and complement broader sales and marketing campaigns.
Help conceptualize video stories, and scripting, shooting, and editing those stories
Manage social media advertising including budgets, vendor relationships, and advertising programs
Manage and contribute to the Booksource Banter blog, including content strategy and development, writing and formatting posts, reporting and providing insights to increase engagement
Lead photography for social media, marketing collateral, etc., – take photos of products, people, etc. in our onsite showroom
Develop and manage social media influencer programs and attend events
5+ years of experience in social media management, video and photography, preferably for online/mobile
Exemplary writing and content development skills, specifically for blogging and social media
Advanced expertise with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and LinkedIn and knowledge of latest social media practices and trends
Experience with shooting video and editing with software like Final Cut, Premiere or Avid and knowledge of After Effects, with a willingness to learn more multimedia technologies
Knowledge of HTML, CSS design, etc.
Experience in Adobe Suite (ex. Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator)
Experience developing social media strategies within a marketing plan
Proven ability to build social media communities
Desire to work in a fast-paced environment, consistently adhering to deadlines and evolving priorities
Self-starter with high energy, flexible and dependable disposition and a willingness to be a team player
Ability to collaborate well with many stakeholders, prioritize, manage, and complete projects on deadlines
B.A. or B.S. degree or equivalent experience preferred
