Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the software engineering related disciplines.
- Accountability for the delivery of high-quality software solutions and improvement of related processes including planning, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate with other departments to align software development with business goals.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of software systems. Implement and manage observability, incident management, and continuous improvement processes.
- DevOps: Oversee the integration of development and operations to streamline the software delivery process. Implement CI/CD pipelines, automate deployment processes, and ensure infrastructure as code practices.
- Data Engineering: Lead the data engineering team to design, build, and maintain data solutions. Ensure data quality, governance, and accessibility across the organization.
- Resource Management: Lead the team and manage team resources to meet committed company business objectives and the product roadmap. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and allocation of resources to ensure optimal productivity and alignment with strategic goals.
- Product Development: Manage the effective delivery and maintenance of software products and services, ensuring they meet market needs and business objectives. Drive best practices from a commercial SaaS platform lens including optimisation of cost to serve.
- Technical innovation: Continuous desire to test and trail new methods and technologies to drive quality, efficiency and effectiveness
What we are looking for
You will bring extensive experience in software engineering, software development methodologies and best practise with proven experience of leading high-performing teams. You will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and drive alignment between software development and business objectives. Importantly you will bring you a strong sense of values, personal drive and a great sense of humour. You will prioritise creating an innovative environment where the team is empowered to achieve success.
Additionally, you will have experience in:
- Cloud-based platforms and modern software development tools.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps practices.
- Data engineering principles and practices.
- Resource management, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Product development for commercial SaaS products.
