Experienced Data Engineer

Partner with a diverse team of experts across technology, business, and data science to mature our products through experimentation. You will need solid experience and understanding of big data tech needed and being responsible for ingesting a high volume of data and transforming it into outputs to accelerate decision making.

  • Build highly scalable pipelines and design data assets to process high data volumes for analytics consumption
  • Partner with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and business teams to make sure data products are aligned with needs.
  • Partner with ML platform team to build tooling around experimentation

Senior Data Engineer

Help us design and develop data infrastructure especially with respect to clickstream data. Work closely with various stakeholders (product and engineering teams, marketing, finance, executive leadership,) to define data requirements for business processes, capture data generated by business and clickstream systems, and stage the data for operational and analytical consumption. You will also work on analytics and data visualization processes.

  • Design and architect the data infrastructure (table design, data flows etc.)
  • Develop data pipes across various sources to collect and stage data for operational and analytical consumption
  • Document data objects to produce technical metadata, and business data dictionaries
  • Manage data loads, data quality checks and defect resolution
  • Develop data visualization and reporting views over base tables
  • Work with Product Managers to own all aspects of web tagging and clickstream data collection, inclusive of tagging documentation, tool configuration and user administration
  • Develop event architecture for Tempest’s web data and work to integrate into 3rd party platforms (marketing / advertising, email systems, CRM systems)
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure quality, accessibility, and consistency of collected data across web and native platform

Data Engineering Python

Maintaining the current Data Engineering system within the company. Offer support to the stakeholders of each system and implement small feature changes. You will help in migrating from Google BigQuery to a Snowflake cloud solution. The Team Lead will help you in identifying and scheduling calls with the specific stakeholders within the company.

  • Analyzing the current system for identifying and isolating problems and offer data engineering solutions to stakeholders and handle feature requests
  • Communicating directly with different stakeholders within the company for understanding business needs
  • Implement changes that are compatible with the current algorithms
  • Collaborate with the Data Science and DevOps teams

 

Qualifications

 

Experienced Data Engineer:

  • Strong SQL (Spark SQL, Presto) skills
  • 3+ years of experience with Python or another object-oriented programming language
  • Exposure to cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with data modeling and managing data transformation jobs with high volume and timing requirements
  • Familiarity with PySpark or another JVM-based data processing tool
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross functional teams, including communicating effectively with people of varying levels of technical knowledge
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or relevant working experience

Senior Data Engineer:

  • 5+ years experience in full-stack engineering with a focus on back-end and clickstream data development
  • RDBMS and SQL skills are a must
  • Experience with Tag Management systems like Google Tag Manager
  • Applied data warehousing techniques and architecture approach
  • Collaborative team player with an ability to prioritize competing priorities
  • Experience with JavaScript would be a plus
  • Ability to translate business problems into actionable metrics and technical measurement requirements
  • Ability to translate complicated methods and results into plain language, both in speaking and writing

Data Engineering Python:

  • Python: Mid-Senior experience with CPython, pandas, NumPy, TensorFlow, scikit-learn frameworks
  • AWS: specifically DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, Batch
  • Basic Understanding of Machine Learning concepts (neural network, regression, classification, decision tree)
  • Apache Airflow workflow management solution
  • Google BigQuery or Snowflake is an advantage
  • Understanding of Data Science concepts is a plus
  • Building Data Engineering Pipelines in Python is an advantage
