ASC Profiles services various segments of the steel construction industry through its three divisions, AEP Span, ASC Steel Deck and ASC Building Products. 

Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing the procurement process including identifying opportunity, implementation, and management of the company's MRO (Maintenance, Repair Operations) sourcing category. The primary objectives are to have the right inputs available at the right time and in the right quantity while optimizing costs, ensure quality, and drive efficiency in the procurement process.

Primary Duties:

  • Category Management: Developing and implementing sourcing strategies for spend categories across CPNA which will include indirect spend, MRP and outside services, including indirect/MRO. This includes conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and identifying potential suppliers. Ability to understand complex market structure with government regulation, pricing mechanisms and volatility is important, particularly in the Utilities category. Manage and monitor the Procure to Pay cycle.
  • Supplier Identification and Evaluation: Identifying potential suppliers and evaluating their capabilities, quality standards, and pricing structures. Conducting supplier assessments, negotiations, and contract management to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Cost Optimization: Utilize the tender process ahead of current contract expiration. Analyzing supplier pricing, negotiating contracts, and implementing cost-saving measures to optimize procurement costs while maintaining quality standards. Identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation or de-centralization, volume discounts, or alternative sourcing options. Manage cost leakage, i.e. spending with non-optimal or pre-approved suppliers.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery, resolve issues, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives. Conducting supplier performance evaluations and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Contract Management: Seek to increase % of total spend under contract. Develop and manage contracts with suppliers, including terms and conditions, pricing, and service level agreements. Understand and utilize the BlueScope Pathfinder toolset including the DOA (Designation of Authority) and the Contract Assessment tool. Write business case/briefing papers to request approval to proceed with contract execution. Identify stakeholders and manage expectations both internal and external during the contract process. Use the Contract Management System to route, store and monitor timelines for contracts.
  • Risk Management: Assessing and mitigating risks associated with the sourcing category, such as supply chain disruptions, quality issues, or changes in market dynamics. Developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize potential risks.
  •  Data Analysis and Reporting: Collecting and analyzing procurement data to identify trends, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and overall category performance. Providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Sustainable sourcing: Promote responsible and sustainable procurement practices including Environmental and social considerations. Participate in the BlueScope Sustainable Supply Chain framework including understanding and enforcing policy, evaluating suppliers and seeking to evolve towards stretch sustainability goals.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Supply Chain. 
  • Five years of Supply Chain experience to include supplier interaction, cost reduction activities and contract management.
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP Purchasing Platform

Preferred:

  • 8 years’ experience within Category Management, SAP Experience, Project Management experience involved in cost reduction activities.
  • SAP ECC or S/4 HANA
  • Experience with Forecasting and/or Data Analytics Software
  • Power BI and Data Analytics experience
  • Experience with ESG

 

Pay Range: $95,701- $143,551 annually

Location: Kalama, Washington. 

Hybrid work schedule.
