ASC Profiles services various segments of the steel construction industry through its three divisions, AEP Span, ASC Steel Deck and ASC Building Products. 

Job Description

Primary Purpose & Value of the Department & Position:

The Manufacturing Excellence Engineer collaborates locally and globally to provides leadership to create and lead corporate manufacturing vision in conjunction with regional general management through: manufacturing continuous improvement, product development implementation, capital budget allocation, capital project management, maintenance best practices and implementation of new technology.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Capital Project/Special Project Management

    • Act as a resource to implement major projects related to various business needs.  Examples include support engineering on major plant or product expansions, new equipment purchases, business problem analysis or significant project where project management or problem-solving skills are needed. 
    • Review proposed capital projects with regions to verify consistency with long term corporate strategy and help set priorities when there are budget constraints.
    • Participate in performance reviews of major capital projects to verify justification goals are met.
    • Support implementation of capital projects in regions.  This may include development of the project plan, spec’ing out equipment, ordering equipment and assistance with install and commissioning of equipment.
    • Lead or assist in feasibility studies for new capital investment opportunities for CPNA

    Product Development

    • Assist Product Excellence and the Innovation group on new products by getting quotes and lead times on new equipment, manufacturability of parts and new product justification as needed
    • Review product changes on current products implemented through Production Excellence and the Innovation group.  Ensure the plant is capable of making the modified parts efficiently and that the parts are set up properly in the Compass ERP system. Coordinate questions through Product Excellence and Innovation as needed.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Implement initiatives developed from the International Manufacturing Excellence Steering committee
    • Review and analyze production costs and productivity metrics to assist in developing and prioritizing support activities to improve these measures
    • Support maintenance, operations, quality, and leadership in continuous improvement decisions for CPNA
    • Coordinate the efforts to share information and ideas between all operational facilities
    • Facilitate team activities to drive results using data science and area expertise
    • Use Lean manufacturing techniques for events
    • Direct the maintenance, reliability, and performance activities to ensure required targets are met for CPNA

    Technical Development

    • Assist to train and develop team members to perform technical tasks and learn new skills, competencies and technologies
    • Benchmark competition and other industries to bring improvements to the organization
    • Participate in organizations and industry groups to stay current with manufacturing, technology and practices available.

    Global Buildings Manufacturing Support

    • Support global buildings initiatives including project management, equipment moves, best practice implementation, plant layouts, equipment specifications, etc.

    Qualifications

    Minimum:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering related studies or relevant experience
      • 5+ years of relevant leadership experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
      • Proven capabilities successfully managing significant projects over $250K
      • Experience in equipment schematics and documentation including electrical and hydraulic drawings

      Preferred:       

          • 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in either mechanical or automation

          Pay Range: $95,701 - $143,551 annually
