Job Description

Summary:  The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator provides support and technical advice to ensure the implementation of a robust HSE system. The HSE Coordinator develops, implements, and monitors business level HSE systems and supports management with compliance reporting and HSE related activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and supporting written HSE systems and procedures
  • Evolve a safety and health culture within the operations
  • Facilitate health, safety, and environmental training for all plant personnel
  • Assist with internal and external reporting
  • Direct and oversee facility’s PPE selection, distribution, use, care, and maintenance
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an HSE data collection system
  • Provide basic First Aid treatment as needed
  • Recordkeeping administrator, including OSHA 300 Log
  • Support and complete incident investigations
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling for air, noise, and other environmental stressors
  • Perform internal auditing and inspections for system compliance
  • Injury management administrator
  • Coordinate annual hearing test
  • Conduct new hire training
  • Assist in coordinating required environmental data collection activities, field inspections, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements as is necessary to comply with air and water permits.
  • Evaluate and determine appropriate proactive safety strategies for projects that may have an impact on the facility or employees.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a Health, Safety or Environmental role
  • Understanding of OSHA/EPA compliance standards, and how to research them
  • Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and projects with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interface with all levels of employee and organizational functions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial environment
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Strong communication skills; written and oral
  • Public speaking or training experience
