Job Description

Summary:  A successful Wholesale Account Executive will maintain, manage and grow existing buying base while continuing to drive new business opportunities for securing ferrous scrap metal volumes from dealers, demolition contractors and commercial generators by developing and maintaining relationships with prospective and existing clients in an assigned geography.

Activities will focus on account service, prospecting, relationship development and maintenance, gathering market intelligence, negotiating prices and contract administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and market the BlueScope Recycling and Materials (BRM) Brand
    • Effectively communicate the company’s capabilities and what differentiates BRM in the industry
  • New Business Development
    • Maintain a database of prospects within territory with relevant opportunity dates
    • Prospect, develop and build new customer/supplier base
    • Negotiate pricing and contracts
  • Account Management
    • Manage his/her book of business by maintaining existing customer relationships
    • Plan, manage and execute customer visits in accordance with company guidelines
    • Retain (and try to improve) profitable accounts within established pricing guidelines
    • Resolve internal and external customer service issues
    • Ensure standard of customer service through coordination of logistics and operations teams
  • Business Administration
    • Understand how the company’s business processes and systems work
    • Meet deadlines
    • Communicate logistical requirements and equipment needs to transportation and operations departments
    • Review and evaluate all transactions for accuracy, quality, and profitability
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Submit anticipated weekly plan and daily activity reports to management consistently and on time
    • Communicate relevant market/account information internally on a timely basis
    • Communicate purchases that require special handling or processing to operations in advance of receipt of material

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in business or sales or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of marketing/sales within the scrap, steel or freight industry is preferred
  • 2+ years of customer development, negotiating and service within wholesale or industrial account management is preferred
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of scrap pricing, material identification, costs, operations, and transportation.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and Word.
