BlueScope Construction (BSC) is the wholly owned construction subsidiary of BBNA.  BSC supports the mission of BBNA by providing an alternative channel to market for the company’s PEB products, focusing on large corporate clients executing projects across the US and administering the company’s federal supply contract with the United States government. BSC has had a history of profitable financial performance and is currently experiencing significant growth in its business.

The Government Services group has primary responsibility for sales of products and services to two unique markets through our contract vehicles. We enjoy outstanding success with our Brand builders through our Sourcewell Contract which is the bulk of our revenue. We have also enjoyed a successful contract with the federal government since 1991 through our GSA Schedule. Under both contracts, we execute design/build turnkey nationally utilizing our Butler or Varco Pruden brand builders to perform contracts at the local level, including design disciplines, vendors and subcontractors, etc. Both contract vehicles provide a firm-fixed price offering best upon a best value solution. We do not bid on work. Under our Sourcewell solution, we do not have competitors. The customer’s budget is our only competition. Our primary focus is to generate repeat business with our customers through our national network of brand builders. Additionally, our business focus includes Safety, Quality, Timeliness, Margin, Flexibility, and innovation in the pursuit of exceeding our customers’ and builders' expectations.

Job Description

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) provides project management services that meet or exceed customers’ expectations .  The SPM provides timely and concise verbal and written communications and promptly responds to customers’ requests.  They employ sound risk management principles that meet or exceed project and regional profitability goals and establish and ensure milestone dates and deliverables are met.  The SPM supports and engages in a collaborative work environment between all internal company functions and builds trust among peers and customers by developing strong relationships.  They also mentor entry and intermediate level peers and act on behalf of management in their absence,

This role’s contribution will be that of a key player in the execution of work for various Government Services construction projects.

  • Instill and lead BlueScope Steel “Zero Harm” Safety Beliefs to the Government Services construction network of Butler Builders who execute construction services. Supporting the importance of safety and requiring subcontractors to adhere to the BSC Safety Plan
  • Ensuring that each project proposal and contract include the specifically defined for scope to meet  contract terms, and our customers’ needs.
  •  Manage each project in accordance to the contract, including margin protection, schedule, change orders, submittals, etc. while ensuring quality, professional services, in a timely fashion.
  • Working as a leader of BSC’s project management team to establish direction and strategies to achieve desired financial results for Government Services projects, which are complementary to the financial performance of BlueScope Construction, and BBNA
  • Provide guidance and support to Project Managers, BBNA Material quotes, engineering and material order managers within the Government Services group, in keeping with the goals and mission of our group and BSC overall.

Qualifications

Minimum:          

  •  Engineering or Construction Science degree
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years of pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) experience

Preferred:           

  • Bachelor degree in a related field
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of PEMB experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience
