Job Description

The System Administrator II manages and tunes computer hardware and software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. The Senior Administrator may also plan and implement policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze performance on systems to anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, and applications. Escalate incidents as necessary with vendors.
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, development team, and database administration teams to implement desktop and server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and purchases.
  • Assist with capacity planning by providing recommendations to IT leadership regarding the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software 
  • Support regional IT teams to problem solve local plant and regional systems permissions and user and device management 
  • Develop and implement communications to end users and IT team related to system changes by utilizing the identified change management process (CAB). 
  • Document systems and processes within the Infrastructure department
  • Design, implement, and maintain an environment that meets current security needs.
  • Schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, and configuration on identified complex systems 
  • Create required reporting on metrics in response to business needs. 
  • Participate and/or manage negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.

Qualifications

Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Administration or 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree
  • 10 years of system administration experience in the following areas:
    • Storage area networks
    • Linux administration
    • Data backup systems
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Microsoft O365
    • Microsoft Azure
    • VMWare
    • Citrix
    • Local and Wide Area Networks

Preferred: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in System Administration
  • 15 years of system administration experience
  • Certifications appropriate to role
