Job Description

The Maintenance Lead shall supervise the scheduled and unscheduled repair of manufacturing equipment, material handling equipment, building, and grounds to consistently produce a product that meet customer and quality standards. This is a grooming role for Maintenance Manager.

Safety: Maintains high safety standards and does not accept excuses for unsafe acts.

Quality: Conveys urgency when correcting maintenance related quality issues and performs maintenance with a prevention mind set.

Customer service: Treats all customers as if they are the Plant Manager. IE Operators, Safety, Shipping, Sales, Engineering, and Truck drivers.

Leadership: Lead with the intention of meeting goals; Remove subordinate’s obstacles, praise successes, give opportunities to correct mistakes, and train on knowledge gaps. Lead by example and enforce company policies.

Assist: Find reasons to win. Nothing happens without maintenance involvement. Assist with process improvements and projects.

Environmental Impacts of this Position:

The Maintenance Lead has a responsibility to take all foreseeable precautions to avoid environmental impacts, while performing daily duties, such as: oil containment, good housekeeping practices, and spill clean-up if needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education / Skills:

High School Diploma, Effective communication and leadership skills to lead a 2-3 person crew towards daily, weekly, and monthly goals, Trouble shooting skills in general electrical and mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics equivalent to a level three technician.  Computer skills to accomplish administrative work related to maintenance. Maintain forklift qualification and licenses to operate vehicle. Bilingual a plus.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • 5 years leading maintenance crews.

Equipment / Tools Used:

Proper use of all hand and power tools.  Micrometers, tape measures, files, computer, calculator, telephone, blueprints, catalogues, instrumentation and equipment manuals, forklifts, cranes, Blue Scope computer system, various software programs, etc.
