Job Description

The Tax department provides expert counsel to senior management and the North American businesses (BBNA, Steelscape/ASC JV, NorthStar BlueScope Steel) in all tax matters, as well as complies with regulatory issues and filings.  This includes, but is not limited to: M&A activities, compliance, tax accounting, audit management, and tax planning

The Tax Analyst contributes by preparing state corporate income and franchise tax returns and quarterly estimates, assisting with internal and external tax audits, and participating in tax projects and planning opportunities.

  • Preparing and/or reviewing federal, state and local tax returns and workpapers
  • Calculating federal, state and local estimated payments on a quarterly basis
  • Assisting with various tax and financial planning projects
  • Handling tax authority inquiries and responding to state notices
  • Performing tax research on an as-needed basis
  • Assist with internal and external audits

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • At least 1 year of tax experience with broad exposure to general tax compliance preparation applications

Preferred:        

  • Big 4 accounting experience
  • CPA certified or eligible
  • Experience with Onesource and/or BNA software
