Job Description

The Power Business Intelligence Engineer architects and maintains the Power BI platform.  The Engineer works collaboratively with senior leaders and various business areas to translate business questions and requirements into professional data visualization reporting systems that provide efficient and self-serve accessible information for decision-making, insights, and strategies.

  • Work with senior business leaders and various departments to understand the business fundamentals to build and maintain analytical tools that enable key insights into business drivers
  • Design executive-level self-service reporting in Power BI and other reporting environments (where needed) based upon high level specifications and user needs
  • Architect and maintain the integrity of the underlying Business Intelligence platform and infrastructure (databases, data collection systems, data analytics); build and maintain new data source tables
  • Document critical business processes and data governance for core reports and dashboards
  • Work with other finance transformation team members supporting the objectives of the department
  • Facilitate, manage, and train the business to extract data from large data sets to create ad hoc analyses that enable deeper understanding of Sales, Financial, Operational trends
  • Assist with implementing best practices for storing and sharing Power BI Models and data sets

Qualifications

Minimum:       

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology or related field
  • 5 years of recent Power BI data model development experience
  • 8 years of Business Intelligence or other advanced analytic experience (data engineering, data modeling or data development)
  • Experience working with and manipulating data; hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating into purposeful visually descriptive reports and dashboards
  • Experience with developing code in Python, SQL (Sybase and Microsoft), DAX Query
  • Experience with Power BI and other business reporting platforms
  • Experience with advanced analytics tools such as R, MS Access, Web Intelligence
  • Experience with Microsoft eco-system of data analytics tools

Preferred:

  • Experience in other BI platform tools
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI Service (workspaces, apps, mobile, etc.)
  • Experience in Power Query and DAX
  • Experience with manufacturing and engineering related sales and financial data
  • Experience in Microsoft Purview or Synapse
