Job Description

The Production Planning/Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for creating production schedules for specific product area that allow efficient time for orders to be produced, meeting all ship dates and maintaining work-load balance throughout all shifts.  The Production Planner/Inventory Control Coordinator is accountable for managing customer orders after they are received and processed by customer service as well as all onsite production inventory.  This is a hands-on role working actively and in coordination with onsite manufacturing, customer service, and procurement teams to achieve outcomes detailed.  Working with site leadership the functionality of this role will be responsible for the successful oversight of the following process tasks: production scheduling, receiving processes, backorder process oversight, cycle counts, stock level management.  This role will also perform as a key contributor to team standard work and process training and electronic transactional accuracy.

  • Upon review of sales orders, drawings and/or plans; establishes production schedules for multiple pieces of equipment related to hourly flow of production through the process (Roll Form Mills, flat sheet, shear, slitter etc.).
  • Maintains accurate production planning to meet site capacity, including modifying and adapting production scheduling, issuing run lists, production related paperwork, and issuing order amendments to accommodate revisions, cancellations, or priorities, as well as Sales Order backorder communications and management with Customer Service Team.
  • Works with team lead to maintain daily and weekly productivity records and throughput capacity data.
  • Overseeing full-cycle process of standard stocked flat sheet program, including creating a purchase req. worksheet and maintaining/updating production orders and Flat sheet Stock Transfer Orders (STO’s) to meet customer demand, while maintaining minimal aged flat sheet position.
  • Schedule, participate and maintain cycle count processing to ensure inventory accuracy throughout the year. (Buyout, Flat Sheet, Coil, FG inventory).
  • Responsible for inventory related responsibilities during site bi-annual inventory process.
  • Responsible for receiving transactional processes and overseeing incoming and put away of materials.
  • Site leadership backup support during increase workload, time off, and as a training and development opportunity (i.e., purchasing duties, inventory management, assist in overall planning improvements).
  • Schedule Delivery Assistance Requests and backorder management as needed to support order fulfilments and maintain site log. Process Material Request Forms timely for lead-time and coil availability recommendations to Customer Service.
  • Partners with site leadership and team to identify and develop plans to improve costs in key areas around process scrap, errors, overtime, utilization, scrap, process, and material flow training.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of experience in a high-volume production environment are required.
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a scheduling or production planning role is strongly preferred.
  • SAP experience is strongly preferred.
