Job Description

The Plant Finance Manager provides analysis, interpretation and reporting of Operations finance information in a timely, consistent, high-quality manner that enables the Operations management team to make optimal business decisions. The Manager functions as part of the assigned location’s management team and uses managerial and professional judgement to give guidance on business and operational changes and decisions at the location. They also provide support to the location’s Sales, Engineering and Project Management teams and are involved in plant-wide meetings to communicate financial results.

The Plant Finance Manager ensures accurate costing of inventory and projects, maintaining the cost system and providing inventory control for the location. They provide financial reporting for the operations of the facility, including operational transactions and performance reporting.

What the Plant Finance Manager does:

  • Provide the location leadership team with high quality financial information to support both tactical and strategic decisions. Participate in and lead projects, plant improvement, accounting and metrics
  • Support month-end close and perform monthly accounting reconciliations
  • Provide support for quarterly forecasts and annual budget requirements for both manufacturing and on-site SG&A departments
  • Maintain the standard cost system, including periodic reviews and updates of standard costs, material, labor and O/H rates. Ensure routings and BOM’s are correct for costing
  • Analyze, interpret and communicate various cost and budget variances
  • Develop, implement and apply accounting policies, standards, procedures and controls
  • Ensure stewardship of the location’s inventory assets through adequate controls and adherence to policies and standards
  • Support the cycle counting function, physical inventory taking and inventory accuracy
  • Ensure capital requests and expenditures are correctly prepared and analyzed, expenditures are tracked to budget, and proper capitalization of assets is performed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities to enhance performance and profitability including: the quality and integrity of the management and financial reporting systems and expanding the capabilities and use of the COMPASS ERP financial system

Skills and compentencies the Plant Finance Manager must possess:

  • Application of GAAP
  • Understanding of Oracle/Compass or other ERP systems
  • Microsoft Office competent (proficiency with Excel)
  • Understanding of standard cost and/or job cost environments
  • Understanding of capital process

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or other professional field
  • 5 years of Finance or Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of leadership, strategy, or project experience

Preferred:

  • CPA or CMA certification
  • 10+ years of Financial or Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
