The Manufacturing Excellence Manager provides leadership to develop and drive manufacturing and logistics strategies to achieve the business plan for all regions with seven strategically located manufacturing facilities in North America and numerous outsourced fabricators and suppliers.  Specific responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic and professional advice to the BlueScope Buildings leadership and Operations teams in the areas of continuous improvement, capital budget allocation, capital project management, implementation of best practices, implementation of new technology, and logistics.
• Manage capital budget, lead or support implementation of major capital projects, ensure capital projects are submitted according to the capital governance process (RCE system)
• Design, develop and review comprehensive manufacturing and logistics processes to ensure needs are met and indicators drive company specifications and requirements
• Lead and deliver continuous improvement outcomes in the Operations & Logistic functions to generate and implement cost reduction projects
• Negotiate and maintain mutually beneficial long-term supplier partnerships
• Support the direct relationships with Operations Excellence and Logistics professionals across multiple manufacturing sites
• Work with the Division Maintenance Manager to define strategic maintenance goals and objectives, and develop/review preventative maintenance programs
• Liaise between Product Excellence, Innovation, and Plants to ensure product changes can be manufactured properly and efficiently in the plants, and new product justification
• Manage the logistics function and the movement of all materials to, from and within the company

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Logistics, Engineering or related discipline
• 10 years of experience in manufacturing, transportation and/or logistics
• 5 years of experience in the management of supplier related products
• Experience managing multiple operating sites and associated people
• Contract development and management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven capabilities successfully managing significant projects, such as Plant start-ups, shutdowns, restructuring, and equipment purchases over $5M
• Experience in equipment schematics and documentation
