This position can be located at any BlueScope manufacturing site.

The Nester ensures optimum utilization of material, supports web nesting for all company locations, and delivers continuous improvement in the support of business goals.  They ensure efficient and rapid turnaround of job requirements to the manufacturing shops and effectively communicate with the regions to support individual requirements.  Specific responsibilities include:

• Nesting web batches. Pre-positions webs on plate steel to achieve optimum material utilization for all web cutting operations.
• Determines desired plate material each location should carry to improve utilization of material.
• Ensures material utilization requirements are achieved, with a focus on costs of consumables and reduction of scrap.
• Completes Nesting for special non-standard parts, such as; hip and valley clips and special plates and flanges. These parts must be manually calculated and entered. 
• Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
• Completes cross-training in other departments and other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of Frame Fabrication Detailing experience
• 5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities
• Understanding of COMPASS and ERP systems
