Job Description

BlueScope Recycling and Materials (BRM), is actively seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support our Waterloo, IN location.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer
•    Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment as required 
•    Follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE at all times
•    Work independently in the absence of direct supervision 
•    Prepare all necessary documentation [Bill of Ladings, Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Tool Orders]
•    Conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s
•    Welding, grinding, weld set-up
•    Set up and break down machinery
•    Maintain 5-S program (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
•    High school diploma or GED, Trade school
•    2 years minimum experience Maintenance/ Mechanic
•    Hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•    Problem-solving
•    Welding and grinding
•    Sort and identify tools and parts
•    Pass a pre-employment drug screening
•    Pass a pre-employment background check
•    Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary

Physical Requirements:
•    Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time
•    Able to climb in/on mobile equipment
•    Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing within active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather

•    No budget responsibility
•    No direct/indirect reports
