Job Description

The Plant Manager leads by creating and reinforcing a Zero Harm and Zero Defect culture.  Through employee engagement, the Plant Manager focuses on performance improvement, cost reduction, product delivery and customer service. The Plant Manager also develop and execute strategic plans aligned with business goals.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate quality and service improvements as well as cost reduction through good manufacturing practices
  • Develop and administer budget while improving conversion and reducing variances
  • Using Felt Leadership, implement and ensure high performance of safety metrics
  • Mentor staff to optimize performance and drive results
  • Communicate the company's vision and values
  • Manage plant equipment layouts and new equipment startups

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory or people management role

Preferred Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with plant start-up's and equipment layout

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, analytical and diplomacy skills
  • Knowledge of steel industry
  • Continuous improvement techniques with manufacturing processes and capabilities
  • Understanding of Compass and ERP systems
  • Management of inventories
  • Excellent verbal, problem-solving, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
