Job Description

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist provides support and technical advice to ensure implementation of a robust HSE system.  The HSE Specialist develops and maintains business level HSE systems and supports HSE Managers with compliance reporting and HSE related activities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains HSE data collection system (Intelex) and provides technical support to employees
  • Prepares and distribute monthly internal HSE reporting in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provides HSE support and programs to company standalone offices and remote workers
  • Assists in developing and supporting written HSE plans, programs, and procedures
  • Develops annual HSE training materials and aids HSE Managers with the delivery of training; including Ethos, webinars, face-to-face training, etc.
  • Coordinates HSE planning meetings and recognition/celebration events; including HSE strategic planning meetings, Good Catch Celebration, Zero Harm Awards, etc.
  • Assists all sites with administrative HSE internal and external compliance reporting
  • Supports Regional HSE Managers and site HSE Managers with special projects
  • Performs internal HSE auditing and inspections for compliance to risks

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Safety Engineering or related field
  • 2 years of related experience

Preferred Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of Manufacturing HSE experience

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Microsoft Office products
  • Understanding of leading and lagging indicators
  • Ability to mine accumulated data for trends
  • Ability to maximize utilization of software applications to drive HSE improvement
  • Understanding of OSHA/EPA compliance standards, and how to research them
  • Excelllent oral and written communication skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Organization and time management
