Job Description

The Senior Financial Analyst --

  • Ensures the company leadership team is provided with timely, high quality and accurate financial information and advice as regards to actual, forecast, and budgeted results. This information is critical to support business decisions via identification and analysis of key business drivers and evaluation of cost/benefit analysis and business improvement options;
  • Delivers continuous improvement in the quality of the management and financial reporting systems and outputs;
  • Uses logic to learn and evolve business process with frequently changing technology.
  • Prepares materials for presentation, analysis and discussion with the leadership team and corporate headquarters;
  • Assists in the translation of the business objectives into strategies, actions and targets applicable to the management and finance team that not only deliver the short-term objectives (month to month) but also provides a realistic foundation to achieving longer-term objectives (a year or more ahead).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Management / Reporting

  • Prepare financial results on a monthly basis and report to management team via Monthly Business Review (MBR) packet and key reporting metrics and dashboards.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for approval, and provide clear and concise explanations of variances to actual performance
  • Create presentations for the leadership team and coordinate material to be presented to the headquarters office (i.e. due diligence reviews, budget and business plans, QBR presentations, etc.)
  • Analyze data and organize it into a diverse format consumable for multiple purposes.
  • Prepare variance analysis for head office
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and data analytics to support leadership team and finance team initiatives
  • Report on continuous improvements

System Analyst

  • Expert in financial systems; liaison between Finance and IT; assist in developing and testing enhancement requests 
  • Maintain and improve business processes through utilization of technology
  • Support finance system improvement initiatives 
  • Develop automated financial reporting leveraging multiple systems (ie Oracle BI, Salesforce, Power BI)

Managerial Leadership 

  • Prepare Business Plan financials, assumptions, etc. to review with management
  • Monitor business performance and recommend improvement actions as necessary
  • Support other company functional areas in the implementation of improvement actions as agreed
  • Provide robust, thorough and timely financial analysis underpinning strategic decision making 
  • Assist in tracking and reporting of progress on key strategic initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting 
  • 5 years of financial analysis experience 

Preferred Education & Experience Qualifications

  • CPA certification 
  • 7 years of financial analysis experience 
  • Experience with budgeting process 
  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Enterprise 
  • Exposure to manufacturing industry 
  • IT Systems emphasis or experience with developing reporting tools, etc.

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Excellent presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated deep business and analytical skills 
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently while also enjoying collaboration with cross-functional teams and other analysts 
  • Strong communication skills
