Job Description

A Government Services Senior Project Manager is accountable to the Director of Government Services at BlueScope Construction. The individual(s) in this role should be able to run multiple projects of various complexities without much supervision. Additionally, this role requires the individual to generate new sales and relationships.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Instill and lead BlueScope Steel “Zero Harm” Safety Beliefs to the Government Services construction network of Butler Builders who execute construction services.  Supporting the importance of safety and requiring subcontractors to adhere to the BSC Safety Plan;
• Ensuring that government project proposals are adequately defined for scope, correctly detailed for building parameters and GSA contract terms, accurate for cost and pricing, and presented in a professional format;
• Building key relationships with government contracting and agency personnel by responding professionally and responsibly to their requests, and serving their needs in such a manner as to eliminate obstacles for doing business and to make them want to do business with us again and again;
• Verifying that our Builder/Subcontractors are adequately capable of providing the services they propose and carry insurance equivalent to our policy requirements prior to issuance of any subcontract;
• Monitoring the progress of the services we have been contracted to provide and documenting any changes, delays, requests for information, etc. that occur during the execution of our contract;
• Providing and updating a detailed construction schedule sufficient for the customer to monitor the progress of the project, and to provide regular internal reports as directed on the status of all projects, proposals and pending projects
• Creating a financial accounting program – estimate through project accounting (Penta) for each project responsible, and accurately projecting monthly billings, so that the financial success of a project can be tracked appropriately;
• Working as a member of BSC’s project management team to establish direction and strategies to achieve desired financial results for Government Services projects, which are complementary to the financial performance of BlueScope Construction, Butler Manufacturing and BlueScope Steel.
• Provide guidance and support to Project Managers within the Government Services group, in keeping with the goals and mission of our group and BSC overall.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience in Construction Science, Engineering or Architecture
  • 5-10 years of experience in Design/Build industry
  • 5-10 years of experience in Construction/Building industry
