Job Description

ASC Steel Deck is a leading structural steel roof and floor deck manufacturer servicing the Western United States. As the only manufacturer on the West Coast to offer a full line of light-gage structural products including the deep deck, ASC Steel Deck’s extensive product offer meets the needs of the most complex conditions and demands for structural performance and design.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform all job functions considering your safety and the safety of fellow employees as the highest priority.
  • Safely operate forklift and overhead crane.
  • Perform Preventative maintenance on equipment to be used. Lubricates machinery on a timely basis, completes a Maintenance Request Form when necessary and advises the Supervisor of any immediate problems.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance in the manufacturing of products to meet engineering specifications and must ensure compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and objectives within the production department.
  • Utilizes manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop equipment to perform machining operations for metal products.
  • Utilize the computer system to record production, enter quality results, and generate production reports.
  • Accurately completes necessary paperwork for each department such as Batch cut lists, Quality Checklists, Order Checklists, shipping/loading paperwork or coil paperwork.
  • Possess the ability to Pull, package, and label accessory parts as required for each order.
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely load and unload trucks.
  • Ability to understand semi-truck weight capacities per axle and full truckload.
  • Be able to obtain the knowledge to Verify load accuracy for shipments and check materials prior to loading.
  • Verify incoming materials against packing lists and bills of lading prior to acceptance.
  • Prepare coils for shipment based on material transfer sheets provided by Operations support.
  • Obtain knowledge to back up inventory controller and Production lead as needed in production recording, coil receipts, flat sheet, and trim.
  • Complete projects and assignments as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Subject to any and all miscellaneous work-related duties requested by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Two years of high production volume experience
  • Two years of forklift and overhead crane experience.
  • Roll Form experience.
  • Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members to achieve planned results
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Forklift certification is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to read measurements from tape measures, micron meters, and protractors.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Safely use pneumatic nail guns, staple guns, and manual banding equipment.
  • Proficiency in the English language, with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate basic arithmetic skills with the use of a calculator.
  • Must communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff.

  • The physical demands of this position are limited to those found in a normal warehouse/production environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, lift, carry, use the hands to manipulate objects, bend, look and see.
  • The employee is frequently required to push, pull, twist, turn, talk, hear, reach above the shoulder and/or outward, and drive power equipment.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, squat, type, kneel, and crouch.
  • The employee must routinely lift to 50 pounds.
  • The work environment is constrained to a standard, unconditioned warehouse and production space.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to falling objects, floor hazards, machine hazards, and hazards associated with driving a forklift.
  • This position may be required to work all shifts (day, swing and/or graveyard) periodically. The ability to work any shift and to change shift requirements to meet business needs is required.
