BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. The Opportunity
What’s next in your career? Are you ready to start a new journey?
Our Western Port Manufacturing facility is seeking for Team Members (Process Operators) to join our Operations teams at Hastings. As part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have five major manufacturing departments at Western Port which operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, delivering a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers.
To support these operations, we’re creating a ‘Talent Community’ for future Process Operators. By joining this Talent Community, you’ll be considered for opportunities across all departments as they become available over the next 6 - 12 months.
We're committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and empowered to be their authentic selves. We encourage applications from women and First Nations people as we continue to build a diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
This is a hands-on, physically active role where no two days are the same. You'll be part of a supportive team operating machinery, moving steel products and helping keep our operations running safely and efficiently.
These roles involve being on your feet for most of your shift and may require manual handling, lifting, working around large machinery and exposure to heat, noise and working at heights, depending on the department. We provide the training, equipment and ongoing support needed to help you perform your role safely and confidently.
To help you decide whether this opportunity is right for you, you'll have the opportunity to attend an online Information Session where we'll provide more detail about the different departments, the work involved and the shift patterns available.
Opportunities like this don't come around often, making this a unique chance to start a career with one of Australia's leading manufacturers.
Be sure to check out the video below and hear from our employees! They'll share their insights on what they enjoy and value at our Western Port operations.
What Will You Do?
Process Operators will undertake important processing work that requires a strong safety focus, an eye for detail and plays an integral role in producing our high-quality steel products and ensuring only the finest quality is delivered - on time, every time.
Operations work can include:
- supporting and promoting a safe working environment
- operating machinery to process and manufacture our products
- operating equipment such as forklift and cranes
- packing, strapping, and monitoring products to ensure quality control
What Are the Shift Patterns?
Our Process Operators work 12-hour rotating shifts across both days and nights, meaning you will be rostered to work both 7:00 am–7:00 pm and 7:00 pm–7:00 am shifts.
There are two main roster patterns:
- a 13-shift day/night roster, which includes day and night shifts, weekends and public holidays when rostered
- a 10-shift day/night roster, with shifts operating Monday through to Saturday morning, with no weekend or public holiday work. Friday night shifts finish on Saturday morning
To help you plan ahead, our rosters are published up to 12 months in advance, giving you visibility of your roster well ahead of time.
More About You
