The Opportunity
BlueScope Distribution is looking for a Operations Support Officer to join the Operations team based in Clayton South. BlueScope Distribution is a single-source provider of product, processing and service solutions in steel and aluminium product. The business supports customers in a variety of industries and works with them to help deliver projects on time and to specification. BlueScope Distribution supports its customers by helping them find the freedom to do what they do best.
As the Operations Support Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting the Clayton South Operations team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of operational and maintenance activities across the site.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly organised and systems-savvy professional who enjoys working at the centre of a busy operation. You'll be the go-to person for processes across procurement, purchasing, inventory management, supplier coordination and reporting, helping keep our operation running efficiently while identifying opportunities to improve the way we work. With responsibility for managing purchasing activities, supplier relationships and operational spend, you'll be a trusted member of the team, exercising sound judgement, attention to detail and a high level of discretion when handling business information and financial commitments.

What Will You Do?
As the Operations Support Officer, you'll play a critical role supporting the Clayton South operation by coordinating purchasing activities, maintaining consumables inventory processes and driving business excellence initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- managing procurement and purchasing activities across the operation
- processing SAP purchase orders and supporting supplier engagement activities
- monitoring spend, tracking budgets and assisting with cost control initiatives
- maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and service providers
- supporting inventory management and stock control processes for operations and maintenance activities
- preparing reports, analysing operational data and supporting monthly business reviews
- assisting with CAPEX submissions and project tracking activities
- identifying opportunities for process improvement, standardisation and cost savings
- supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business
More About You
You are a proactive and highly organised professional who enjoys improving processes, working with data and building strong stakeholder relationships. You're comfortable working across multiple priorities and have a natural ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
You will bring:
- experience supporting day-to-day business operations within manufacturing, logistics, distribution, service or industrial environments
- strong knowledge of procurement, purchasing, inventory management and invoicing processes
- experience using SAP or similar ERP systems
- advanced computer literacy across Microsoft Office and business systems
- well-developed reporting, administration and data analysis skills
- strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- adaptability and enthusiasm for learning new systems, technologies and AI-enabled tools
- a commitment to safety, continuous improvement and delivering exceptional service
