Job Description
The National Manager Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain reports to the General Manager, BBC and is a member of the BBC Lead Team and Australian Technology Leadership Team.
This role is responsible for leading the national operations, engineering and supply chain capability that enables BBC to make, move and deliver product safely, reliably and competitively. This role can be based at any major operational BBC location (Lyndhurst Vic, Emu Plains/ Mascot / Minchinbury NSW, Archerfield Qld Mile End / Gillman SA, with regular national travel.
The role provides national leadership across operations, engineering, maintenance, capital, automation, supply chain, logistics, inventory management and operational business systems.
It is accountable for strengthening safe and reliable operations, lifting Manufacturing Excellence, improving asset and supply chain performance, and enabling practical adoption of technology and transformation across the BBC network.
This is a senior leadership role with national accountability and enterprise influence. Success requires strong operational judgement, commercial discipline, people leadership and the ability to influence across all of broader business functions

As National Manager Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain, your focus will be on leading safe, reliable and competitive performance across BBC while building the operating capability required for the future.
Key focus areas include:
Safe and reliable operations
Lead operational safety, critical risk management and operational discipline across the national network, with a strong focus on practical control effectiveness and frontline leadership capability.
Operations and Manufacturing Excellence
Drive operational performance, quality, productivity, standard work, job procedure checks, active supervision and continuous improvement across BBC sites.
Engineering, maintenance and asset stewardship
Lead engineering, maintenance, capital planning, asset strategy and asset rejuvenation so BBC assets remain safe, reliable, productive and fit for future growth.
Supply chain, logistics and customer performance
Lead national planning, scheduling, inventory, logistics, freight and service outcomes, balancing customer experience, working capital, cost and operational efficiency.
Technology, automation and business systems
Shape automation priorities and lead the operational adoption of data, digital and enterprise technology initiatives that improve safety, productivity, quality, service and cost outcomes.
Leadership capability and succession
Build a high performing national team with strong succession depth, leadership routines, engagement and enterprise mindset.
Enterprise partnership
Work closely with state leaders and functional partners across all of BlueScope to deliver integrated business outcomes
Over the next three years, the National Manager Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain will be challenged to:
Sustain safe, reliable and disciplined operations with Manufacturing Excellence embedded in everyday routines and reflected in stronger safety, quality, productivity, reliability, scrap and customer outcomes.
Strengthen asset stewardship and capital governance so engineering, maintenance and investment decisions support safer work, reliable operations and long-term network resilience.
Lift supply chain and logistics capability to improve customer service, inventory discipline, working capital, transport cost, scheduling and service reliability.
Leverage technology and automation to simplify work, improve decision making and strengthen operational performance across BBC.
Build leadership capability and succession depth across the national operations, engineering and supply chain leadership team
Qualifications
We are looking for a credible, commercially minded operational leader with experience leading teams and delivering outcomes in complex, multi-site or industrial environments. This role requires someone who can connect safe and reliable operations to business performance, build capability across a dispersed national team, and influence confidently across operational, commercial, technology and enterprise stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
Senior leadership experience in operations, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, asset management or a related industrial environment
A strong understanding of safety leadership, operational discipline, Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement
Commercial judgement and the ability to connect operational decisions to safety, customer, cost, working capital, capital and EBIT outcomes
Proven ability to lead leaders, build capability and create alignment across a geographically dispersed business
Experience influencing in a matrix environment and partnering across functional and enterprise teams.
