National Stock Control Manager (Flexible location)

  • Full-time

Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

BlueScope Building Components is looking for a National Stock Control Manager to join the National Supply Chain team. BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a national leadership role where you’ll take ownership of inventory performance across a multi-site network. You’ll lead a geographically dispersed team and work closely with stakeholders across operations, commercial and supply chain to support balanced, forward-thinking outcomes.

With a strong focus on collaboration, insight and continuous improvement, this role brings together people leadership, commercial thinking and data-led decision making — giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how we operate now and into the future.

Reporting to the National Supply Chain Leader, you’ll lead the Stock Control team, which operates across key BlueScope Building Components sites including Smithfield, Lyndhurst and Archerfield.

The role can be based in Archerfield, QLD and Smithfield, NSW or Emu Plains, NSW. We offer a flexible hybrid working model, giving you the balance of working from home up to two days per week.

What Will You Do?

As an experienced people leader, you'll work collaboratively with our cross-functional teams and national branch network to:

  • optimise inventory performance across the network – support a balanced approach that considers customer needs, operational efficiency and commercial outcomes
  • leverage data and insights – utilise reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends and provide clear, actionable recommendations to stakeholders
  • stakeholder engagement and influence – build strong relationships across the business to support alignment on inventory strategy and resolve complex challenges
  • lead, coach and develop your team – uplift capability and guide a high-performing, geographically dispersed team
  • support continuous improvement initiatives – contribute to enhancements in systems, processes and ways of working, with a focus on automation and efficiency

More About You

You are an engaging leader who enjoys working across teams to solve complex challenges and drive improved outcomes. You bring a thoughtful, data-informed approach and are comfortable operating in a dynamic environment. In addition, you will bring:

  • strong understanding of inventory management principles and their impact on business performance
  • a systems and data-driven mindset, with experience using reporting tools (e.g. Power BI) and an interest in automation and process improvement
  • well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to align outcomes without direct authority
  • demonstrated experience leading and developing teams, ideally across multiple locations
  • a proactive approach with the ability to anticipate challenges and drive continuous improvement
